With so much talk about the environment and climate change, it is important to include pupils in current discussions. We’ve compiled a few websites and resources that can help your pupils on their quest to learn more about the environment, the climate and sustainability, and inspire them to take action in relation to these pressing issues.

  • EPA cover a range of topics including climate change, waste, environment and wellbeing, water, sustainable economy and land and soil. There is information about every part of the environment including infographics that could be downloaded and used in class.
  • Green-Schools is Ireland͛'s leading environmental management and award programme, working with primary and secondary schools across the country. Resources to help with your Green-Schools programme are sorted into three categories: the theme you are working on, whether your school is primary or secondary and which of the seven steps you would like to focus on.
  • World Heritage Education program featuring their free-to-download ‘World heritage in young hands kit’, UNESCO’s education program has a stack of resources that can be utilised across primary schools, with the aim of encouraging pupils to learn about the history and traditions of cultures, ecology, and promoting the ongoing need to protect the biodiversity of the planet.
  • Eco-Schools is the largest global sustainable schools programme. It starts in the classroom and expands to the community by engaging the next generation in action-based learning. Each school follows a seven step change process and empowers their young people to lead processes and actions wherever they can.
