We recently caught up with Mr Hogan, Múinteoir (@mrhoganmuinteoir) to get his thoughts on The Spelling Box which uses strategies to help unlock spelling mastery.

I’ve found this Spelling Box from @primedireland so beneficial that I just had to share it. It contains 100 activities that the children can complete based on their weekly spellings.
I love how flexible the cards are. You can base the activities off any spelling program, they can be completed in any order and the cards can be used for whole class teaching, group work or for individual work. I’ve also found them very beneficial as early finisher activities.
I’ve been using the cards with my class for a few weeks now and the children really enjoy the activities. I love how it helps to teach various spelling skills such as using phonemes, visualising, clunking, using mnemonics, etc.
Also, there are two of each card so it is handy for quarantining them after use at the minute.
I’ve seen a huge improvement in the spelling ability of my class since starting to use these cards. 10/10 would recommend.
